Top Ten Tuesday – 2nd March 2021

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This weeks topic is Characters Whose Job I Wish I Had. I loved trying to remember occupations from book I’ve read, found it interesting to imagine myself in that book/job.

1. Emma in ‘The Cosy Seaside Chocolate Shop’ by Caroline Roberts owns a chocolate shop by the seaside (I know that you could have probably figured it out on your own….) BUT it sounds devine. I’m not sure if I would turn into a chocolate button or if I would end up going off chocolate, either way – owning a chocolate sounds divine.

2. Marcus in ‘The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair” by Joel Dicker is a ‘famous author’ and I often wish I had it in my to write a wonderful story and be able to share with the world. Every time that I even flirt with the idea I fall horrendously flat.

3. Susan in ‘The Cactus’ by Sarah Haywood is a Lawyer. I always wanted to be a lawyer when I was younger (I know, very exciting) and even had the chance to do a LLP at university but I chose to do a MSc instead in the end.

4. Helen in M J Arlidge’s series is a DI (Detective Inspector) and I love the idea of being a detective, probably why I read so many of this genre of books! I often think when I’m reading them how fantastic I’d be at the job (but I’m sure it’s not as glamorous and exciting as it is in all the books and TV shows).

5. Angela in Lindsey Kelk’s ‘I Heart’ series is a blogger in New York (in the first book) and I would love nothing more than to do this full time and get paid enough money to survive.

6. Nessie and Sam in ‘A Year at the Star and Sixpence’ by Holly Hepburn, own a little Pub and B&B in the idyllic countryside, my dream.

7. Birdy in ‘The Summer Job’ by Lizzy Dent masquerades as a Wine Expert, something I think I could definitely get on board with.

8. Leland in ‘Needful Things’ by Stephen King owns a magical shop in a small town. When I was a kid, I used to think that not only would running a shop be very fun but also very easy. My thoughts on this have changed but I do still think it could be fun…

9. Kitty in ‘One Hundred Names’ by Cecelia Ahern is a Journalist turned mystery solver. Always fancied myself as a mini sherlock. Jury is out on if I’d be any good as an investigative journalist… I expect probably not.

10. Becky in ‘The Dog Sitter’ by Zara Stoneley is a house sitter and this case, the house came with an adorable dog!! I’d love to be surrounded by dogs, all day everyday (big dog fan over here if you couldn’t tell).
