Synopsis:
For millions of years man and rats had been natural enemies. But now for the first time – suddenly, shockingly, horribly – the balance of power had shifted and the rats began to prey on the human population.
Review:
I put out a plea recently on twitter for recommendations for scary books. This one got recommended to me more than once, so I thought why not, let’s give it a go…
I have never read a James Herbert before so I wasn’t really sure what to expect… It definitely delivered on the gore front and it also had a splattering of sex, odd backstories and some interesting characters.
I wouldn’t say I loved it, or that it scared me but I was interested in it and I did speed through it. It’s only 200 odd pages, so if in doubt, why not give it a go.
If you think you’re ok with rats, you might give them a second glance after reading this one!!
I rated this one a 3 stars out of five and am interested to see what other books he has written and will give some a go.
Great review. I’ve had The Rats on my shelf for ages but somehow have just never got around to it.

Sounds like an interesting read. Not one for Winston Smith.
