This is the second one of this Emandherbooks Recommends series, so if you haven’t read the first one yet, you can check it out here.
I hope you’ve found your way to this post because, like me, you love to cry at a book. I think there are few more magical moments than the ability of written words to make you cry. I can feel so connected to a character or a situation that I physically sob at a book.
Many many people think this is incredibly weird (my partner included) but I know there are people out there that, like me, love to have a good cry at a book. So, if you’re one of them (or your not but you want to give it a go), here are some of my top recommendations to make you ugly cry:
- Half a World Away by Mike Gayle
- Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
- PS I Love You by Cecelia Ahern
- The Two of Us by Andy Jones
- Life and Laughing: My Story by Michael McIntyre
- A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
- Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
- The Man Who Didn’t Call by Rosie Walsh
- The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver
- Saving Missy by Beth Morrey

This is by no means an exhaustive list and I will likely do another one of these posts. If you want to, leave me a comment with your top recommendations so I can add some new books to my TBR!
I’ve found a few new additions to add to my ugly cry list! Great post ๐

Let’s see… The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce; I am, I am, I am: Seventeen Brushes with Death by Maggie O’Farrell, as well as several of her fiction books like Hamnet, come to mind right off the top of my head.
